     Lloyd W. Brugger, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 1:34 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at HCR ManorCare in Peoria.

     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at First Assembly of God in Peoria, with the Reverend Dean Grabill officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. A private interment, with military honors, will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.

     Lloyd was born in Peoria on May 17, 1921, the son of William J. and Rose R. (Hoerr) Brugger. They preceded him in death, along with one son, Steven L.; one grandson; and a half-brother. He married Thelma Lucille (Schuster) on May 30, 1941 in Peoria. She survives.

     He is also survived by his sons, Lloyd Duane (Edna) of Lowville, NY, David E. (Darlene) of Hanna City and Dennis P. (Patty) of Bradford; daughters, Holly J. (Terry) Yousey of Lowville, NY and Laura S. Brugger of Wasilla, AK; daughter-in-law, Marrianne Brugger of Benton; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

     Lloyd was a self employed contractor, retiring in 1996. He specialized in building churches and children’s homes through the Assemblies of God Mobilization and Placement Services (MAPS). Locally, he built Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Peoria and Richland Baptist Church in East Peoria.

     He was a member and Sunday School Teacher of First Assembly of God on Brandywine Drive in Peoria. He had been a Gideon, since April 5, 1966. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and a spokesman for the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office: TRIAD.

     Memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd’s memory to the Gideons International.

     Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.

Thelma, My condolences to you. I don't know, if you remember me. I was the Peoria coordinator for RSVP. I remember Lloyd being in the office many times and him--and you--helping out at many events. I had numerous conversations with Lloyd. What a fine man he was. He's with his maker now.
